A 2 mile circular walk through the forest of the Hermitage of Braid.

The woodland paths can be muddy after wet weather. There is one kissing gate and one stile on route.

The walk starts from the start of the Hermitage of Braid which is accessed from Braid Road. To get there, head south along Morningside Road, the A702. At the junction of Cluny Gardens and Balcarres Street head straight over onto Comiston Road. Continue on past the next crossroads and then after heading past a Shell garage on the left, take the next left turn up into Braid Hills Road. After a short distance take a left onto Braid Road passing the Braids Hotel on your left and park on the road just a little further up on the right. Approx post code EH10 6JD. The start of the Hermitage of Braids in on the right.

Start at the entrance to the Hermitage of Braid. Head along the path which can be wet on occasions.

House to Bridge

When you reach the house, which is the Friends of Hermitage of Braid visitor centre, head right at the fork. You will pass an Ice House on the right. Head on along the path to the newly built Scout Bridge.

When you reach the Scout Bridge don't head over the bridge but turn left up the steps. Continue up and then along the path to a kissing gate about a quarter of a mile further on, on your left.

Head through the kissing gate and across the Midmar Paddock heading for a stile at the far side of the meadow.

At the far side of the meadow known as Midmar Paddock there is a stile. Go over the stile and head right. About 200 metres along the path is a fork. Here take the left hand path.

At the fork, head left back to the house and then back along the path retracing your steps to the start of the walk.
