This is a 7 mile circular walk, starting and ending at Frost Folly Country Car Park, Wellers Lane, Warfield.

This is a fairly gentle walk through fields and country paths with some really pretty views of the Berkshire countryside. This walk also includes walking down Ashmore Lane, reputed to be one of the prettiest lanes in the borough, especially when the bluebells are out.

Dog walkers please note that you will need to pass through a pony field at the start of the walk, please ensure that you have dogs on leads for this section of the walk. There are several gates plus one stile (but this has an open fence surround for dogs to pass through).

The walk takes approximately 3 hours.

Coming from Bracknell - Leave the A3095 Maidenhead Road, at Bowyer's Lane just after the garden centre.
Progress onto Wellers Lane and the car park is on the left hand side at the top of the lane. Approximate post code RG42 6EN.

End point: 51.4435 lat, -0.7345 long

Frost Folly Country Car Park was opened in 2003 by Jean Frost, her late husband, Chris Frost, having donated the land to Warfield Parish Council for use as a countryside amenity.

Leave Frost Folly Country Car Park by the pedestrian gate in the far left hand corner and turn right onto the track.

Follow the public footpath gently down the hill, over the stream and up the steady incline. As you progress up the hill you’ll see a beautiful old oak tree on your right, with a kissing gate alongside it. Pass through the gate into St Katherine’s Drive, walking towards the church.

Start point: 51.4435 lat, -0.7345 long
End point: 51.4407 lat, -0.7283 long

At the bottom of the drive turn left into Church Lane. Just after the vicarage, turn right through the metal kissing gate. Walk straight across the middle of the field to the gate at the bottom.

In the next field walk diagonally to the metal gate on the left hand side of the field. In the third field, again cross diagonally, to the bridge over a stream in the bottom corner of the field. Please be aware that there may be ponies and/or cows in any of these fields. Please keep dogs on leads.

Continue to follow this path onto the road at Wane Bridge. Turn left and after a short distance take the footpath signed on your right.

Right at Footpath to 5 Bar Gate
Right at Footpath to 5 Bar Gate

Start point: 51.4407 lat, -0.7283 long
End point: 51.4407 lat, -0.7165 long

Follow this path across the field. You will see Hayley Green Farm away to your right; considered the oldest dwelling in Warfield and originally the old moated manor house. Much of the moat is still intact.

Eventually, you will emerge on the road at Brockhill, after passing the stables.
Turn left at the main road and just after the entrance to Planners Farm, turn left again following the footpath sign.

Walk down this path, past two houses on your right and continue as the road sweeps round to the right. Take the gate straight in front of you (the one with the 5 bar gate and the small gate to the left of it).

Start point: 51.4407 lat, -0.7165 long
End point: 51.4604 lat, -0.7181 long

Continue on the enclosed path through the fields until you reach Ascot Road (A330). Cross straight over into Garston Lane. Follow this quiet narrow road, until you reach a bend in the road where you’ll have “Old Whitelocks” farm in front of you, sweep round the corner and take the road on your left.
After approx. 250m Hog Oak Lane will appear on your right. Turn into the lane and continue.

Keep walking past the nature reserve until the start of the woodland on your left. Take the starggered barrier on your left into Ashmore Lane.

Start point: 51.4604 lat, -0.7181 long
End point: 51.4576 lat, -0.7368 long

Ashmore Lane is reputed to be one of the prettiest lanes in the borough, especially when the Bluebell’s appear in the spring. Continue down the path until you reach the junction with Hawthorn Lane, turn right here.
Continue straight on this path, past Lordlands Farm, the end of Cruch Lane and the old icehouse. Continue to the junction with the A330.

Start point: 51.4576 lat, -0.7368 long
End point: 51.4594 lat, -0.7623 long

Cross over the A330. Do not follow Penfurzen Lane (the more obvious path), but take the right hand (more hidden) path following Hawthorndale Bridleway until its junction with a short section of permitted path on the right.
Follow this path through the gateway onto the A3095 and cross the road into Pendry’s Lane. Follow this lovely leafy lane downhill to its junction with Hazelwood Lane.

Here you will see the Westley Mill Ford in front of you and if you’re lucky you may catch a glimpse of a kingfisher.

Hazelwood Lane to Buckle Lane

Start point: 51.4594 lat, -0.7623 long
End point: 51.4472 lat, -0.758 long

Turn left down Hazelwood Lane, following the road past the mobile home encampment. Just after the encampment the road bends around to the left, do not follow this bend, instead continue straight on following the bridleway signs.

As you pass down the lane, you pass a small stable yard on your right and a beautiful big bungalow on your left. The next lane you come to on your left is Buckle Lane, take this lane and pass through the gate.

Buckle Lane to End

Start point: 51.4472 lat, -0.758 long
End point: 51.4458 lat, -0.7452 long

Follow Buckle Lane up to the Shepherds House Pub. This is a lovely pub serving a range of hot and cold food. Unfortunately dogs are not allowed inside the pub but are welcome outside either the front or back beer garden.

Cross over the main road (A3095) with care and go ahead into Bowyers Lane. Continue uphill onto Wellers Lane and the car park will be on the left.

A really lovely walk down some well made lanes. Look out for bluebells in Spring and take in the beauty of English hedgerows. The Shepherds House pub is near the end so you can stop for some food and drink - there is a garden too if you have a dog with you.

Great walk through some lovely countryside and pretty lanes and bridleways. Not sure about the comment about Ashmore Lane. I couldn't find it on the map or internet search for this area.

Found Ashmore Lane. You won't find it labelled on a map. It's a right turn off Hog Oak Lane. Pretty in winter. Looking forward to the bluebells.

Very pretty walk...lots of bluebells and fields of rapeseed...only a very tiny portion is along a road and there is a pavement so it's nice and safe...the ponies in the fields were very chilled out so no dramas to be had. The paths run between the fields with hedgerows teeming with life either side of you. My ears were full of birdsong all morning. All of the paths and gates were easy to negotiate... No tricky stiles for large dogs. We'll do this one again....lovely.

I've done this a few times now but added a leg from Binfield as i live there so it saves driving anywhere. Total distance including this is about 11.5 miles but well worth it for a lovely walk!
