A gradual climb up to Deep Rake, then a short walk across open moorland, followed by a steep descent which is rocky under foot in places. You then follow the surfaced track down Coombs Dale to reach the A623 which you follow back to Calver. You will need to negotiate several stiles along the way.

Calver is approximately 2 miles north of Baslow on the A623. Approximate post code S32 3XH. There is no car park so parking is at the road side. The walk starts and finishes from outside the Garden Centre on the B6001.

Near the top of the path you go through two small gates and cross a field. Keeping a fence then a wall on your left, follow the track and, just before you reach a gate with a stile, turn sharp right. Follow the grass path downhill passing the telegraph poles on your right. Continue down the steep valley with a wall on your left. Take care as some rocks are loose under foot. Continue down until you reach a waymarked stile on your left, cross this and turn right following an indistinct path to cross a small stream.
