Trail Part 25: Dedicated to all the Sussex Hospices by Chris and Karen Thorne

Part 25 of the Sussex Hospices Trail has been kindly sponsored by Chris and Karen Thorne.

We would like to dedicate this walk to all the Sussex Hospices, whose staff do such incredible work in often challenging circumstances, but a special mention to St. Wilfred’s where Chris’ Mum, Reynie Thorne, spent her final days in 2010. She was looked after with such amazing care and compassion. Keep up your wonderful work and we hope everyone enjoys the walk!

Trail Part 1: In Memory of Hilda Wadham by Di Steele

I am proud to sponsor Part 1 of the SHT (Chichester to Barnham) in memory of my very dear aunt, Hilda Wadham. She came to live with me in 2009 when it became apparent that her memory problems meant she couldn’t live alone. I have always admired her; she was a truly remarkable person before Alzheimer’s took over.

Sussex Hospices Trail Collection

iFootpath has teamed up with Friends of Sussex Hospices to create a trail dedicated to raising awareness of the work of the hospices in Sussex. The Sussex Hospices Trail is a 200 mile (320km) circular long distance path that starts and ends in Chichester. Using existing footpaths and bridleways, the trail guides walkers on an exciting, rewarding and sometimes exhilarating journey around the Sussex countryside. It is the perfect way of experiencing all that Sussex has to offer, from seaside promenades to riverside pastures and tranquil woodlands to the bracing tops of the South Downs. The variety of the route is a real treat and there are lots of landmarks to visit along the way too. If you’ve ever fancied visiting Arundel Castle, Battle Abbey, Brighton’s i360, Glorious Goodwood or Chichester Cathedral then this is a great opportunity to do just that.
