Whilst sitting in the garden you may be lucky enough to spot rabbits, pheasants, house martins, birds of prey and the shire horses that live in our fields.
All water used on-site is naturally sourced from our own bore hole and tastes delicious so you may wish to bring a couple of bottles to take some home with you. We have facilities for walkers such as a washing machine, a drying room with boot cleaning equipment as well as a wide selection of maps and guides to help plan your hikes. We also provide recommendations for places to both visit and eat.
At Oldfields Farm we love pets! We are located at the foot of the Peak District making it the perfect place for adventurous dog walks.
As Handel’s Muse is a bijou cottage, it can comfortably accommodate one dog (two on request) for an additional charge of £10 per dog per week. This extra charge allows us to provide you with a special welcome pack, including treats by Marge & Mabel’s Handmade Dog Treats, as well as to pay for additional cleaning required. Please let us know when booking if your V.I.Pet has any dietary requirements so we can personalise their welcome pack. We provide towels and Animology Clean Sheets wipes, cosy throws, food and water bowls, an area with a hose to wash off after muddy walkies and compostable waste bags. We have a lovely enclosed garden where they can run around and play fetch to their heart's content! There is a good selection of maps and booklets with details of dog friendly walks/pubs and we are happy to recommend our favourites. V.I.Pets are very welcome on the sofa in the living room but we kindly ask that they don’t sleep on the bed. We have enough room for you to bring their own beds or we can provide bedding for you, just let us know when you book. We also have space to store any travel crates.
V.I.Pets are free to go anywhere within the cottage and the enclosed garden but we do ask that dogs remain on a lead in the rest of the grounds so as not to disturb local wildlife, pet cats as well as shire horses and sheep nearby. All V.I.Pets must be fully vaccinated and wormed. Any damage or breakages will be deducted from a £100 good housekeeping deposit.

See our Optional Extras page for further information.
Emma and Ben Mills-Wallace recently bought Oldfields and are excited to meet both new and returning guests. We will ensure Handel’s Muse remains as luxurious as always but we will also be bringing a few exciting new changes.
As well as Emma and Ben, you may meet Helen during your stay. Helen is Emma’s Mum and lives in Gorsey Hayes. She is the lady to thank for the beautiful gardens and making the delicious jam included in your Welcome Basket. You may also meet Seamus the staffy and Suki, our very own V.I.Pets.
