Heath Hall Farm is a bed and breakfast in Surrey in converted stable building around a central courtyard set in its own farmland with cattle, sheep, ducks, geese, chickens (rare breeds), dogs and cats.
The atmosphere at Heath Hall Farm is extremely relaxed. Sukey and Anthony would like all their visitors to feel that the farm is “home from home”, and expect to see everyone on a return visit. Anthony’s French is good, German pretty poor – Sukey struggles along with her French but can get by very well and looks forward to Anthony helping her out!
There is a tennis court too for those with energy to spare. Dogs are only welcome for Sherherds Hut guests and by prior arrangement. Guests must understand that all the “fowl” are free range, meaning that there are chickens and ducks running free outside.
Bowlhead Green is superbly situated within the Surrey Hill area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. For those who enjoy walking there are seven square miles of land close by on Thursley Common which is a National Nature Reserve with abundant wild life. Forestry Commission land covers the hills behind the village and walks traverse local farmland.
It is not far from many world famous sites such as Hampton Court, Windsor, Petworth House, Loseley House, Midhurst Castle, Farnham, shopping in Guildford, the theatres of Woking, Guildford and Chichester.
The coast is only one hour’s drive away. Local walking is plentiful and varied. For sport lovers there are many golf courses nearby, polo to watch at Midhurst, swimming pools in the nearby towns of Haslemere and Godalming and Guildford, not the mention the tennis court at Heath Hall Farm.
The River Wey navigation runs from Godalming through Guildford and on up to the Thames and boats, including canal boats, can be hired in Godalming if arranged well in advance (go to www.farncombeboats.co.uk or www.horseboat.org.uk in Godalming but there are other companies in Guildford too).
1 Double Room – private bathroom (also available for single occupancy)
1 Family Room (1 x Double and 1 x Single bed) – en suite bathroom (available for single, double, twin or family occupancy)
The double bedroom is on the ground floor, with only one step into the house (a ramp can easily be put in place at this step).
The family room is upstairs.
Both rooms have television, radio, coffee and tea making equipment. A hair dryer is provided in each room, as is a shoe-cleaning kit. If you need to iron anything, you are encouraged to ask and the board can be set up in the kitchen.
We provide a small sitting room exclusively for our guests in which there is a fridge, toaster, kettle, microwave, plates, cutlery, glasses, mugs, a table and chairs, sofa and TV. This may help you budget as you won’t have to go to the pub every night!
Wi-fi is available.
Passive bed bug monitors are used.
Shepherd's Hut Shortbreaks
How would you like to get away from it all and stay in luxury in our beautifully kitted-out shepherd’s hut? You would have one sleeping/living hut and another shepherd’s hut converted into a lovely wood-lined, warm bathroom, all to yourselves. None of that “sharing a bathroom” with our camping! Have all the best bits of “outdoor” living without having to rough it one bit. What’s more – you would have exclusive use of a hot tub/Jacuzzi in its own special house, the use of our tennis court (bring your own rackets and balls) and 2 bicycles to roam the countryside (bring your own helmets). As you can see from the photos, the views from the hut are fantastic as we are situated on our own farm in the heart of the Surrey Hills, close to the Hampshire and Sussex borders.
Tucked away amongst delightful rolling Surrey countryside, the shepherd’s huts at Heath Hall Farm are perfect for a relaxing weekend or a longer break, ideal for unwinding and doing something different. Our chickens, ducks and geese roam free. You may find you are being visited by Pig, a very friendly but ancient Kune Kune or visited by Dotty and Mabel our two dogs. Dogs are welcome by arrangement but must be kept fully under control at all times – hens, ducks, geese and turkeys roam free – I am sure this is quite understandable.
Following popular demand, we have now made it possible to bring two friends/children (plus dog!) with you as we have added an “Arc” to the Shepherds Hut. The design is based upon a field shelter for horses made into a warm place to stay (fully insulated and heated). The Arc benefits from all the same facilities as the Shepherds Hut. It can only be reserved by those using the Shepherds Hut to keep it exclusive. We don’t want strangers sharing this unique experience – it is definitely more fun with friends or family. We know you will enjoy the Arc, with its very comfortable double bed, TV, coffee/tea facilities, and a fabulous view over the fields. We have added decking in front of the Arc and Hut to enable you to eat in comfort and enjoy the countryside.
We make delicious breakfasts.
Anthony or Sukey will cook you eggs from the farm, sausages, bacon (all British of course), mushrooms, tomatoes and toast. Anthony has also perfected Porridge – our guests love it. We also offer yoghurt and fruit, lots more toast and of course, cereals. All jams and marmalades are home made and are really good.
Heath Hall Farm is within easy access of the A3. Its own private drive is over half a mile long. Leaving the busy A3 contrasts with the peace and tranquility of the narrow sunken drive and takes the visitor from one life to another.
The farm is situated equally between Heathrow and Gatwick airports which are about 45 minutes drive away (depending on traffic). Witley Railway Station is 4 miles away and Guildford Railway Station, with frequent trains to and from London, is only 20 minutes away. There is no bus service to the village, so a car is a must.
