Bill and Sue offer you a warm and friendly family welcome enabling you to escape the hustle and bustle and to relax, explore and enjoy the hospitality of Thornton Lodge Farm while you discover this beautiful area of North Yorkshire.
The Farm is located in rolling countryside between Easingwold and Coxwold surrounded by the Vale of York with views of the Minster and further over to the Pennines. The Yorkshire Dales are to the west and the North Yorkshire Moors to the east. Only a few miles north is the lovely market town of Thirsk where the World of James Herriot can be found.
Thornton Lodge Farm offers secluded ground floor accommodation adjoining the main house. There is a private entrance for guests and two rooms are easily accessible by wheelchair (graded level 2 accessibility). Each bedroom has an en suite bathroom, television and a full beverage tray.
There is a sunny south facing conservatory linked to the bedrooms which is solely for our guests’ use. It has views of the gardens, pond and open fields beyond and is a wonderful place to sit and plan your day’s activities or unwind with a cup of tea after a hard day’s sightseeing!
Our award winning full English breakfast is served in the conservatory and includes some of the finest local meats and freshly laid eggs from the farm hens.
Lakeside Caravan Site
Thornton Lodge Farm has a picturesque and private 5CL adult only caravan site which overlooks the peaceful freshwater trout lakes. The views from the site are breathtaking and our fantastic rural location means you are guaranteed a relaxing and tranquil break. With no noise but the distant sheep and the birds you can be assured of a good night’s sleep and an equally relaxing day.
The site has immediate access from the road, electric hookups, a chemical disposal point as well as a BBQ and picnic area. Dogs are welcome providing they are well behaved but must be kept on a lead.
Caravan Rallies at Thornton Lodge Farm
Thornton Lodge Farm is please to offer a caravan rally site which would suit the needs of any club.
Situated away from the main caravan area the rally field enables you to hold your event in complete privacy while making full use of the farm’s beautiful surroundings. There is easy access onto the site and we can accommodate a large number of vans. Children are welcome on the rally site and there is ample space for outdoor games and letting off steam, however please remember to supervise them at all times as we are a working farm and there are trout fishing lakes nearby.
Visitors are very welcome to book fly fishing or clay pigeon shooting activities while they are here and the farm has public footpath and bridleways running through it which we thoroughly recommend for a peaceful stroll in the countryside.

Horses Can Stay Too
Thornton Lodge Farm welcomes guests who wish to bring their own horses on holiday. The farm has excellent stabling facilities and fenced areas for turning out after riding. The farm is connected to an extensive network of bridleways offering some of the best hacking in the country. A UK Riders & Northern Chases Course runs along the perimeter of the farm. A schooling field with dressage arena and show jumping area are all available for hire.
