We are an award-winning family-owned Park backed up up by a small, friendly team of enthuiastic staff.
Burgh St Peter staithe and Waveney River Centre have a rich history; nowhere has a church tower quite like the ziggurat inspired church of St Mary, whilst in the Victorian era The Waveney Inn featured a zoological gardens in its grounds - you’ll find old photographs of some of the animals in the pub's main bar. But throughout the years Burgh St Peter was most important for its staithe, where trading wherries would load and unload goods, and for the ferry which allowed south Norfolk’s residents to walk or cycle to Lowestoft fish market.
The expansion of the Broads holiday industry in the 1960s led to the first phase of Waveney River Centre's development as a visitor destination, and by the 1980s the business included a much expanded pub, additional marina and an indoor heated pool. Today, this award winning holiday park and marina is open year round and features luxury holiday lodges, 5-star camping and boat hire, as well as a ferry link to Carlton Marshes.
Our luxury holiday lodges and penthouses are spacious and exceptionally well appointed, featuring fully integrated kitchen appliances, digital TV & DVD and south facing balconies with superb views across the marshes. They are ideal for holidays all year round and feature a bird feeder beside the balcony & lounge window, so that you can spot our feathered friends and record them in Eddie's Bird book. Most of our lodges now feature a private hot tub.
Our luxury bed & breakfast rooms are located within the Waveney Inn and feature huge beds and 40in HD Smart TVs.

Touring & Camping
Our touring & camping area is small and family-oriented, with room for 17 touring caravans and up to 35 tents. It occupies an idyllic south-facing location overlooking the marina and river, with leisure centre, showers, toilets & wash up area all immediately adjacent. For 2012 we completely re-designed our campsite so that all pitches are on level ground and feature electric hookup and planting.
Touring caravan pitches with electricity are located on high well-drained ground with superb views. Some pitches have water, grey waste and TV connection too. WiFi service is also available if required.
We've completely re-invented our campsite so that all the pitches are on level ground with fantastic views across the marina. All our family pitches can be classed as large (no less than 8m x 9m overall) whilst our premium Coot pitches are now a frankly enormous 12m x 10m which must surely be enough for anyone. All pitches on our main camping area have electric hookup as standard.
As personally suggested by David Bellamy, we've done some planting between our pitches - so you may find yourself sharing with the butterflies. This means that your tent and your car (and your party) must absolutely fit on the pitch provided, no exceptions. Please make sure that you check the size of your tent before booking and ensure that your whole party including car will fit comfortably on the pitch as described. Fire regulations require that we ensure that there is a 3m gap between any two pitched tents on the campsite.
New in 2013, by popular request, our 'Escape Pod' glamping pods - designed and built by our skilled boatbuilders here at Waveney River Centre. They have an overall size of 14ft x 10ft including a decked porch and are ideal for short breaks and holidays all year round, with their double glazed doors & window and electric heater. The pods are wrapped in foil-backed multi layer insulation, to help keep it warm in winter and cool in summer.
Inside, the pods feature a full size double bed above two single beds, a FreeView TV, LED lights, a double socket and loads of storage space. The pods are an extremely short walk from our 5 star shower and wash up facilities.
Camping in a pod is like regular camping, without the hassle of packing the tent - or putting it up and down! You do need to bring everything else which you'd bring on a camping holiday. We provide 4" foam mattresses but please bring your own linen or sleeping bags.
Dogs are now permitted in some of our Pods - please make sure that you select the correct Escape Pod when booking. Dogs are charged at £2 per night per dog.
