Unfortunately we are not able to offer any catered meals for families or individual travellers at YHA Keswick from 1st April 2016 to 30th September 2016 due to the extensive flood damage. We are working closely with our contractors to ensure there is access to facilities including kettles, a microwave, toaster, fridge and a small amount of food storage space.

This town centre Youth Hostel has excellent access to the North Lakes Fells, and easy access to the amenities of this busy tourist town. For cycling, the hostel is perfectly placed on long distance routes the Coast 2 Coast and End to End and for roadies, Honister Newlands and Whinlatter Passes are close by as well as the family friendly Railway Trail to Threlkeld.

Overlooking the River Greta and Fitz Park with far reaching views to Latrigg and Skiddaw, YHA Keswick has small rooms with 2-6 beds. There is also a first floor lounge with veranda. Less than five minutes' walk to town centre and less than ten minutes' walk to the Lake, YHA Keswick is ideally places for days out.

Take the launch across Derwentwater and climb Catbells before an evening stroll through the town to Friars Crag to enjoy the view down the lake. The hostel also makes a great base for a walk up Skiddaw – the walk starts from just outside the hostel door! Near to leisure centre with pool and indoor climbing. Don’t miss the Pencil Museum and The Puzzling Place.

FREE WI-FI available in communal areas for guests!

The hostel has 26 bedrooms, ranging from two to six beds, over three floors, with 85 beds in total. The hostel's lounge, Skiddaw Lounge, is a large first floor room with a TV and a veranda. There is also the Reading Lounge, a small quiet room, and a self-catering kitchen which is large, well-equipped and suitable for both families and individual guests. The dining room is on the ground floor and has table and chairs as well as a comfortable seating area.

Unfortunately due to flood damage, YHA Keswick will be unable to offer meals to families and individual travellers until 1st October 2016. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

The length (in miles) of a walk is an approximation of the overall of the walking guide, not a measure of the distance "as the crow flies" between any two points. This is based on the GPX file that was created when the author walked the route and rounded to the nearest mile.length

Grade (Boots)

The grade of a walk is an indicator of how difficult it is to walk. This does not take into account the walk length but does suggest how challenging the walk will be. An easy walk, graded as 1 (and shown as 1 walking boot) indicates a walk that is essentially flat, has no sharp hills to climb, has no stiles or other obstacles, is easy to navigate (probably along a well-worn path) and is suitable for most levels of fitness. Do be aware that the level of stamina required will vary and you should only walk within your limits - the indication of walk length will help with this. A difficult walk, graded as 5 (and represented by 5 boots) indicates a walk that is strenuous and involves steep ascents and/or descents. It may be technically challenging involving difficult terrain or obstacles.

Please note that the grading for walks is subjective and open to interpretation and should only be used as a guide when selecting a walk.
