A gem of a hostel set in 42 acres of land, ideal for family breaks and activity breaks. YHA Snowdon Bryn Gwynant is a Victorian mansion, perfectly placed for Snowdonia National Park holidays and set in large wooded grounds with stunning views over Llyn Gwynant and Snowdon itself. From its oversized wooden Giant's Chair overlooking the lake (perfect for memorable family photos) to its distinctive Welsh slate exterior, this peaceful hostel is full of character.

If walking holidays are your thing, you can set out from the hostel and take the scenic Watkin Path up Snowdon. Kids visiting us from the city feel like they've come to another world - you're bound to be inspired to try some new outdoor experiences here. As well as fun sporty activities, there are plenty of brilliant attractions within driving distance such as castles, caves and the magnificent Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways.

YHA Snowdon Bryn Gwynant has 72 beds with a selection of dorm beds and private rooms available. YHA Snowdon Bryn Gwynant is a Victorian mansion called Nantgwynant House, located in its own wooded grounds with spectacular views over the surrounding mountains and lake. Stay in our lovely period property, or the newly refurbished Coach House annex - complete with new kitchen, showers and decor.

There is no mobile reception at YHA Snowdon Bryn Gwynant. Expect comfy leather sofas, fab views and plenty of peaceful nooks and crannies to curl up with a book.

Hire the whole place

This hostel is occasionally made available for hire on an exclusive basis. This means that you can have the place to yourself and choose how many of your friends, family, club mates, etc., join you. We allocate availability for exclusive use in blocks, typically up to 90 days in the future. If you are looking for space to stay with us on a normal shared basis, and can’t see any availability three months or more into the future, then this hostel may be being held for Exclusive Hire. YHA Snowdon Bryn Gwynant offers a delicious hot and cold buffet breakfast, the perfect start to your day. Breakfast is served from 7.30 - 8.30am. Breakfast is now available at 10% off - ONLY WHEN PRE-BOOKED (in-hostel price: £5.25). Simply add it to your basket at check out to save!


We can provide a packed lunch including a freshly prepared sandwich, a delicious cake, cereal bar, a bottle of mineral water, a packet of crisps and a piece of fresh fruit. Eat in the hostel or take your packed lunch with you to enjoy during your day of exploring.

Supper Club

After a busy day, try an evening meal in our licensed restaurant at this beautiful rural retreat. YHA Snowdon Bryn Gwynant offers the YHA Supper Club menu. This is a three course meal served at a set time and sold at a set price. Guests in the Youth Hostel will have the opportunity to all sit around the table together and share stories with their fellow travellers - this is the authentic hostelling experience! Supper Club is served at 7pm.

Kids Eat Free

One free children's meal is avaialable per adult main meal from the main menu when purchased at the same time. This offer is not available on breakfast.


YHA Snowdon Bryn Gwynant is licensed so you can relax with a glass of wine or a cold beer after your busy day exploring the Welsh countryside.

Self-Catering Facilities

Self-catering facilities are available for guests staying in the coach house, and there's also a self-catering kitchen available in the main hostel. We've got some shiny new facilities and decor in the annex, so you can cook with all the mod cons.

The length (in miles) of a walk is an approximation of the overall of the walking guide, not a measure of the distance "as the crow flies" between any two points. This is based on the GPX file that was created when the author walked the route and rounded to the nearest mile.length

Grade (Boots)

The grade of a walk is an indicator of how difficult it is to walk. This does not take into account the walk length but does suggest how challenging the walk will be. An easy walk, graded as 1 (and shown as 1 walking boot) indicates a walk that is essentially flat, has no sharp hills to climb, has no stiles or other obstacles, is easy to navigate (probably along a well-worn path) and is suitable for most levels of fitness. Do be aware that the level of stamina required will vary and you should only walk within your limits - the indication of walk length will help with this. A difficult walk, graded as 5 (and represented by 5 boots) indicates a walk that is strenuous and involves steep ascents and/or descents. It may be technically challenging involving difficult terrain or obstacles.

Please note that the grading for walks is subjective and open to interpretation and should only be used as a guide when selecting a walk.
