Magnificent Georgian mansion Hemmingford House, set in three acres of grounds, is ideal for a budget family break. The Grade II-listed hostel is only two miles from Shakespeare’s birthplace with easy access to historic Stratford-upon-Avon. See performances by the world renowned Royal Shakespeare Company or visit nearby Warwick Castle, one of England’s finest Medieval castles, both great educational options for school trips.

Stratford-upon-Avon has a surfeit of selling points whatever the season. Whether it’s the Museum of Mechanical Art & Design (MAD), Tudor World or the costume displays in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre tower, there’s an exhibition to suit all interests. When you walk around the town centre, lift your gaze above the shop fronts off Bridge Street and you’ll see what the town might have looked like in Tudor times.

We have relaxing lounge areas and a games room for guests to enjoy, as well as a dining area which is available to use for both self-catered and restaurant guests. If you're here for a meeting or a school trip, we have a meeting room available to hire for up to 40 people. Hemmingford's is a great place to hang out and meet new people - look out for in-hostel events and live music!

There is no access to reception after midnight, but customers who have checked in can access the hostel via a key code.

Camping Pods

Get all the charm of a Camping Pod with some luxurious home comforts added! This insulated four-berth large camping pod deluxe has everything you need to enjoy outdoor living in comfort, including a kitchenette area with fridge, sink, kettle, crockery and microwave, wet room with toilet and shower, and plenty of space to sleep and relax. There is one double bed and one double sofa bed and bedding is included. Each pod has it's own private decking area - ideal for a glass of wine.

Shakespeare himself couldn't function without a delicious breakfast, so fill up with our hot and cold buffet. We serve Full English options, hot drinks, plentiful toast and cold treats too. Early birds can enjoy breakfast from 7:30am until 9.30am, but we can stretch until 10am at the weekends. Breakfast is now available at 10% off - ONLY WHEN PRE-BOOKED (in-hostel price: £5.25). Simply add it to your basket at check out to save!


We can provide a packed lunch including a freshly prepared sandwich, a delicious cake, cereal bar, a bottle of mineral water, a packet of crisps and a piece of fresh fruit. Eat in the hostel or take your packed lunch with you to enjoy during your day of exploring.

Hemmingford’s Restaurant

Our atmospheric and stylishly decorated restaurant is open from 11am until 9pm every day, plus there's an outside decked area if you fancy eating al fresco. Look out for our south-facing window - it's always warm and often sunny. Our restaurant also offers the Rural Menu from 5pm until 9pm, along with a wide range of sandwiches, cakes and meals to suit all tastes and dietary requirements. There's live music on the last Friday of every month and we also do Jazz Sunday on the second Sunday in march, May, July and August - pop in and see for yourself; we're open to the public.

Kids Eat Free

One free children's meal is available per adult main meal from the main menu when purchased at the same time. This offer is not available on breakfast.


The bar is open until midnight from Sunday to Thursday, and until 1am on Friday and Saturday. The bar serves a wide range of wines and beers, soft drinks, spirits, nuts and crisps to snack on. Look out for Huck Norton Brewery bottled beers, 'Shipyard' and 'Revisionist' beers on draft, plus our delicious coffee and cake offer too.

Self-Catering Facilities

If you prefer to create food As You Like It (sorry), get creative in the kitchen with our great facilities. We have two fridges, one freezer, three cookers with ovens and hobs, two microwaves, three kettles, and two toasters for guests to use. There's lots of pots, pans, crockery and cutlery available to dish up your feast.
