A 3 mile circular walk close to the village of Warsash, near Southampton in Hampshire. Southampton and Portsmouth are both busy ports with extensive built-up areas, but this tranquil walk is in countryside and on the coastline. The walk takes you along a section of the Solent Way and past Southampton Water, where there are views opposite of Fawley power station and the Isle of Wight. You also pass through through Hook with Warsash Nature Reserve which is rich in birdlife, especially waders (such as Little Egret) and migrants. You may well recognise scenery from the television series Howard's Way as much of the filming took place in Warsash and other villages on the River Hamble. At the time of writing (August 2018), a section of Workman's Lane is marked closed, but according to locals, there is no problem with access and there are also alternative routes to the sea if you encounter a problem.

Apart from a couple of kissing gates there are no obstacles and the entire walk is relatively flat and easy to negotiate. Waterproof footwear is recommended in the winter after rain, as the gravel pathways can become pitted with puddles. Dogs are welcome in the nature reserve but in the north eastern section it is requested that they are on leads. Allow 1.5 hours.

The walk begins from the junction between Hook Park Road and Workman's Lane, just to the south of Warsash village. Leave the M27 at either junction 8 or 9 and head south, joining the A27. Follow the signs for Sarisbury Green and Warsash, turning off the A27 down Brook Lane. At the roundabout by the Ferryman pub in Warsash, go straight on down Newtown Road which then becomes Hook Park Road. Hook Park Road is very winding but follow it until you reach the junction with two side roads, Cowes Lane and Workman's Lane, both on your right. There is plenty of on road parking where Hook Park Road joins Workman's Lane. Approximate post code SO31 9HA.
