Walking in West Sussex? There’s an app for that…

Discover the West Sussex countryside this winter with ten new specially mapped digital walks. And to make it even easier, you can download the walks and follow them using an app.

duclienewsDeveloped by iFootpath, a digital walking guide business, in partnership with West Sussex County Council, the ten walks are mapped via GPS.

Users can follow the walks in real time or download a PDF. Each walk has a storyteller who gives a personal insight into the walk and their experience of it and these stories are available on the West Sussex Weekends website at www.west-sussex-weekends.com

Leader of West Sussex County Council Louise Goldsmith said: “What better way to enjoy winter than getting out and about into the West Sussex countryside for a brisk, bracing family walk. We’re lucky to have such beautiful countryside and a range of landscapes to enjoy and all on our doorstep.

“And if you need warming afterwards or en-route, we have so many pubs, restaurants and cafes offering plenty of refreshment, much of it using ingredients produced locally in West Sussex.”

clairenewsThe ten walks are all different lengths, and there’s something for all levels of walker. They cover many parts of West Sussex, including Arundel and Amberley to East Grinstead and the High Weald, and Fishbourne and Bosham to Horsham.

Walkers can print the maps as a PDF for free or download the iFootpath App, which gives a smarter walking experience with live GPS powered maps that show your progress as you walk. The app is for Apple and Android devices and costs a one-off price of £1.49.

The West Sussex Weekends website launched in the summer as part of the Beautiful Outdoors campaign, to help boost tourism in West Sussex and to support the local economy.

jonewsThe campaign also has a local focus and aims to encourage residents to discover the West Sussex countryside on their doorstep and further afield, as well as share their favourite walks and cycle routes with those who may not know West Sussex so well.

Discover the stories and much more at www.west-sussex-weekends.com and find the walking guides themselves via the iFootpath West Sussex Weekends Collection
