We have great pleasure in presenting below the new articles and new walks published during July 2016.
As part of a joint project with Ryedale District Council, we spent three weeks in early Summer 2016 creating walking guides from the various market towns within this beautiful corner of North Yorkshire. One of the towns in question, Helmsley, is thrilled with the results and the iFootpath Helmsley walking guides featured in a July article for Countryfile Magazine.
Ryedale District Council has teamed up with digital walking guide business, iFootpath, to devise and map four walks from each of Ryedale's market towns - 20 walks in total. The routes are described, photographed and mapped in detail and to make it even easier, they can be downloaded and followed using an app on smart phones, or printed out.
They’re here! It’s time for the school summer holidays! Six whole weeks stretching before us filled with the lazy, hazy days of summer. Oh, if only it were that simple! There’s just that small matter of finding ways to entertain the whole family without breaking the bank. Ebuyer has published a blog post of the Best Apps for Amazing Days Out and we’re thrilled that iFootpath has made the list.
This year marks the 300th anniversary of the birth of Lancelot Capability Brown, the landscape architect who earned the name England’s Greatest Gardener. He is said to be to landscaping what Turner is to painting and Wordsworth is to poetry. And the legacy of Capability Brown remains for us all to enjoy in large areas of parkland and gardens across the country.
Britain could be set for another bumper year of tourism after visitor numbers in February broke all previous records. According to the Office for National Statistics 2.25 million people visited the UK in February 2016, an 8% rise on the previous year. It follows a record 35.8 million visits to the UK in 2015, 6 million more than in 2010.
