The iFootpath customer experience

Featuring accurate turn-by-turn directions, beautiful photography and an abundance of historical and environmental information, users enjoy the ultimate modern walking guide experience in the palm of their hands. iFootpath allows users to track their real-time progress via an intuitive live satellite route map, so there is no fear of getting lost. Thanks to the ability to pre-download the guides, iFootpath can be used even when users venture out of mobile coverage range.

But don't take our word for it, here's what our customers say...

"I love the illustrated descriptions of each walk section. Really helps to enjoy the walk and get to know something about what I'm seeing. So much better than apps that only provide GPS co-ordinates and no photos or description. Love it!"

"I highly recommend it, as my mum and I use it to go for walks and finish by eating at a pub. Its detailed and sometimes humorous instructions lead us easily to our destination. Also, to top this, it has interesting facts about the area we're walking in"

"I don't review much but this app deserves it. Downloaded some really good walks and the combination of the good descriptions and the really useful map of the walk showing where you are make it a brilliant tool. Well done and keep up the good work."

What can iFootpath do for me?

Our customers are couples and families who enjoy getting out and exploring the UK on foot. They are walkers. But don't think anoraks and bobble hats; these customers are the modern day walker. They want to explore the UK's glorious outdoors with all the modern comforts; including all the information they need at the touch of the button and some first class refreshments to round off the experience.

They are happy
Research shows that walking lifts the mood and can even help to treat depression, who wouldn't want happy customers?

They are hungry and thirsty
Burning calories and raising the heart rate not only makes you healthy, it makes you hungry and thirsty, meaning our walks that start and finish at a pub, cafe or tea room are particularly popular.

They are curious and enthusiastic
Our customers like to discover new places and embrace new ideas. By their nature they like to try new things (like iFootpath) and they are enthusiastic adventurers, waiting to discover your world.

They are numerous
9.1 million adults in England walk recreationally for at least 30 minutes every four weeks. That is more than twice the number that swim, cycle, or go to the gym (source: Sport England). It's no wonder then that the iFootpath customer base grows by about 1,000 people per month.

Would you like these customers as your customers too? Have a bespoke walk written for your attraction and make it happen.

Case Studies

We wanted to feature some great walking routes on our website and make it easy for visitors to follow them. We found iFootpath offered a good solution to this and Claire and Richard were great to work with, accommodating our needs and helping us achieve our goals. We’re really happy with the end product and the statistics prove that we’re reaching many more potential visitors than we would do on our own." Natalie Williams, Economic Development Team, West Sussex County Council

" enormous thank you! This has surpassed all our expectations; it is so thoughtfuly written and thorough. We are absolutely thrilled to see the walk made real." Sue Korman, Project Director, Sussex Hospices Trail

Great Value

iFootpath aims to make its services affordable and accessible for a wide range of clients. The fees for the creation and publication of walking guides are a one-off cost, so there are no annual fees required for the continued hosting of the walks on the iFootpath website and app. Prices are calculated based on the cost of creating the walking guides (including travel, accommodation) as well as the cost of continued hosting of the guide within the robust technology which sits behind the website and app. Our standard price per walk is between £300 and £500 depending on the quantity of walks commissioned, their length and their location. We think that is great value.

How it works

It's simple really, because we do all of the hard work for you.

You can specify the walking routes you would like created or we can suggest the routes for you. Once you have approved the walking routes we can get going.

We walk the route ourselves capturing the GPS data (every few metres along the way), the photographs, the access information and the full detailed directions. We then spend time researching the local area, finding those fascinating snippets about the environment, heritage and quirky connections. We include details of your business too – a description of what visitors can expect, a link to your website, a button to allow customers to telephone you at the touch of a button and a plot of your position on the live GPS map.

We convert this into a full walking guide and publish it on the iFootpath website and app for customers to enjoy. We can also create a leaflet version of the walk for those without access to app technology.

The length (in miles) of a walk is an approximation of the overall of the walking guide, not a measure of the distance "as the crow flies" between any two points. This is based on the GPX file that was created when the author walked the route and rounded to the nearest mile.length

Grade (Boots)

The grade of a walk is an indicator of how difficult it is to walk. This does not take into account the walk length but does suggest how challenging the walk will be. An easy walk, graded as 1 (and shown as 1 walking boot) indicates a walk that is essentially flat, has no sharp hills to climb, has no stiles or other obstacles, is easy to navigate (probably along a well-worn path) and is suitable for most levels of fitness. Do be aware that the level of stamina required will vary and you should only walk within your limits - the indication of walk length will help with this. A difficult walk, graded as 5 (and represented by 5 boots) indicates a walk that is strenuous and involves steep ascents and/or descents. It may be technically challenging involving difficult terrain or obstacles.

Please note that the grading for walks is subjective and open to interpretation and should only be used as a guide when selecting a walk.
